Leonie draws on more than nine years’ experience in developing quality evidence-based materials for the health and disability sector.
Project highlights
- She managed NZGG publications services (ie, editorial services, production, distribution) from 2002 to 2012
- While at NZGG, she published more than 28 guidelines and derivative resources (web & print)
- Leonie works closely with content developers, user groups, editors and designers to ensure resources are accurate, appealing, and accessible
- She has developed a number of partnerships that have enabled materials to be distributed widely through existing networks and programmes to ensure their uptake
- She develops and implements communications strategies
Project highlights
- Project managed the editing and publishing of all guidelines, guideline summaries and ancillary materials produced by NZGG since 2002, the latest being the New Zealand Primary Care Handbook 2012 (third edition) www.nzgg.org.nz/library_resources/92_primary_care_handbook
- Project managed comprehensive web‐based information and training services on autism spectrum disorder ( www.asdguideline.com/) and cognitive behavioural therapy (‘Beating the Blues®’ http://www.beatingtheblues.co.nz/). Developed partnerships, materials, and implemented communications and distribution strategies (2010, 2011)
- Project managed the development of quick reference cards on the identification of autism and their translation into Maori and three Pacific languages, which included liaison with a Kaumatua advisory group
- Published practice tools for primary and secondary care practitioners, such as Management of Early Colorectal Cancer http://nzgg.org.nz/practice-tools/bowel-cancer
- Established a regular Evidence Column with New Zealand Doctor and managed the production of PEARLS Practical evidence for Real Life Situations (~350 PEARLS), which they published fortnightly
- Helped establish relationships and communications with over 50 partners and member organisations who supported the ‘Strengthening Consumer Voice’ Initiative, which led to the establishment of the Consumer Collaboration of Aotearoa
- As a team member of the PHARMAC-led project that implemented the cardiovascular risk assessment guidelines, developed and distributed the communications and educational materials
